BBC Worldwide and FKP Scorpio present the continuation of the sensational success:
planet earth – LIVE IN CONCERT 2016
The most spectacular scenes from the BBC-documentary on a gigantic screen – with live accompaniment by the The City of Prague Orchestra under the direction of Matthew Freeman. “Not just a series, but a TV event…Planet Earth is overwhelming television”, wrote the British GUARDIAN on the start of the BBC planet earth series. And the planet earth series did indeed break every previous record for viewership of a nature documentary. It shows our world as we have not known it before. It takes us to places which we have never seen and provides us with unbelievable insights and impressions.
The unique series took more than five years to film with 40 camera crews traveling to more than 200 filming venues in every corner of the world, on land, underwater and from the air. From 10,000 hours of film, nothing less than a new definition of a nature and wildlife documentary has been created: spectacular, grandiose, staggering.
The British film maker Alastair Fothergill has succeeded in making planet earth a declaration of love to the world – praised by critics, admired by the audience and honoured with prizes by jurors. The series has achieved unimaginable ratings.
The films are accompanied by the music of George Fenton who has already written music for numerous series and film hits including Ghandi, Groundhog Day, Anna and the King and e-m@il for You, Angel’s Share and The Zero Theorem. His compositions already made the forerunner to planet earth – Our Blue Planet to an acoustic highlight and contributed significantly to the success of both series. In Spring of 2015, the live adaptation of the successful series celebrated its premiere in Germany and Austria with great success similar to that of the TV series: Due to the enormous demand, the originally planned 13 shows were expanded to more than 20 nearly completely sold out arena shows. More than 140,000 visitors have taken a unique visual and musical journey around the globe with planet earth – LIVE IN CONCERT and have experienced the fascinating mixture of a symphonic concert and film.
Material assembled exclusively for planet earth – LIVE IN CONCERT with the most spectacular scenes, exceptional stories and most dramatic moments from the documentary series are projected onto an enormous screen. These are accompanied live by the renowned “The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra” under the direction of Matthew Freeman performing the soundtrack written by George Fenton. It perfectly captures the filmed scenes and reinforces them in a thrilling fashion – from soft, decreasing sequences of tones as with the pictures of ducklings risking the first, hesitant steps of their lives through to the dramatic sounds of the strings and tympani when a great white shark soars from the depths of the ocean to majestically break through the surface in order to make a desperate seal its prey.
